The Young Marines is a national non-profit 501c (3) youth education and service program for boys and girls, aged eight through high school graduation. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral and physical development of its members. The program focuses on teaching the values of leadership, teamwork and self-discipline, so its members can live and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. 

The Young Marines strengthens the lives of America’s youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, honoring our veterans, good citizenship, community service, and living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building and leadership and promotes a lifestyle that is conducive to being productive members of society.  Our EIN is 38-2346425.


                                                                                                                         


*** ABOUT OUR UNIT ***

Drills & Events:

We currently meet 3 Saturdays a month from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The location depends on the activity or event; we meet at local parks or at Power Technical (PTEC)

We participate in Parades, Honor Flight and Memorial Day events, Toys for Tots, Wreaths Across America, etc. (with the following):

                        Pikes Peak Detachment #29 Marine Corps League
                                    Patriot Guard Riders of Colorado
                                   Honor Flight of Southern Colorado


                                                             For Memorial Day Events

             We place flags on Military gravesites at Evergreen and Memorial Gardens Cemeteries
                            We do Colors (holding flags) at Pikes Peak National Cemetery

                                                            Wreaths Across America
                            In December, we participate in the Wreaths Across America at Evergreen Cemetery


Citizenship

The Young Marines program encourages unit participation in local civic activities, such as providing color guards for athletic events, marching in local parades and activities promoting and reinforcing good citizenship.

Honoring Veterans:  

Year round, Young Marines show deep devotion to military veterans from any era and from any branch of service. In addition, Young Marines participates in Veterans Appreciation Week, a campaign that challenges our youth members to dedicate time to show our country’s appreciation and help our nation’s veterans in their local communities.

When your child joins the Young Marines; they start out as a Poolee (a person who has enrolled but has not attended Recruit Training yet).

 
RECRUIT TRAINING:

What do Youths learn in Recruit Training?  

  • Teamwork, Leadership, and Discipline
  • Close Order Drill
  • Military Terms and Jargon
  • Marine Corps Enlisted Rank Structure
  • Uniform Care and Maintenance
  • Physical Fitness
  • Military Customs and Courtesies
  • And More (including fun!)

    Recruit Training is scheduled for February and August and is a 26 hour course (completed over a weekend).

    Recruit Training is not Boot Camp.


Enrollment fee:  $150 

The fee is used to purchase the following items for Drill, Training, Events, etc.

Woodland Style uniforms and black jungle boots are not included in the enrollment fee (these can be purchased at Army Surplus Stores).  Check with us to see what we have in our Unit Storage.

Become an Adult Volunteer.
Registered volunteers in the Young Marines are adults age 18 and up who possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Every volunteer has been background checked and verified through character references.
